i-Emma

A safety shoe fitted with NFC and Bluetooth technology, making it possible to share product and usage information through a smartphone connection.

It was one of the highlights at the A&A 2015: the launch of the i-Emma, a safety shoe developed by Emma Safety Footwear fitted with NFC (Near Field Communication) and Bluetooth technology. It enables sharing of product and usage information through a smartphone connection.

The i-Emma is a 'smart shoe' with product information and material characteristics in the form of a material passport. Usage information is generated by sensors registering usage, age or wear. Partly thanks to these technologies Emma will meet its CSR goals: developing a circular shoe and starting a return logistics programme of both Emma Safety Shoes and private labels. Emma is currently working on developing the Emma circular shoe. The return logistics process should be up and running by mid-2016.
